We face a profusion of all types of wars and subversive activities, including the secret grab for excessive power by our former prime minister.
Beyond every crisis, are quiet deeds hidden
A profusion of wars, many motives misgiven
For power and prominence
Subversive dominance
Covert, clandestine, classified, forbidden
In murky shadows and shades of grey
Political war games that grown-ups play
Lies and deception
Beyond our perception
Devious dealings to vulnerable prey
So outrage erupts, over revelations sinister
Secret ministries of our former prime minister
Incensed at the heresy
And lack of transparency
Subversive powers he tried to administer
Meanwhile, Trump steals secret nuclear files
That crazy man once had his hands on the dials
And with Boris, it’s a threesome
All tantamount to treason
They subverted democracy, now the populace riles
And as the war consumes both Russia and Ukraine
Countries still hunger for shipments of grain
And tensions are tightened
Rhetoric has heightened
The South China Sea, adding to the strain
Where China has brutalised the Taiwan nation
With military drills and war preparation
Nervous acuity
Strategic ambiguity
A very real risk of miscalculation
Other conflicts abound, in faraway lands
Often for riches, on which, to lay their hands
Over religious derision
Or racial division
Such wars have been fought, since the beginning of man
Wars of vendettas, revenge or corruption
Lethal weapons of massive combustion
Our delicate planet
We recklessly inhabit
On the tipping point of self-destruction
Wars secretly serviced by subversive arms trade
With treaties and agreements, to come to one’s aid
Interdependencies
Mutual expediencies
But from pacts and alliances, world wars are made
Subversive wars in the technology race
And wars for ascendancy in outer space
Wars via cyber
In secret cipher
Or assassinations without any trace
We’ve gangland wars against lawless thugs
The war on terror and another on drugs
And the war on COVID
Is still full throated
Now Monkey Pox, Foot and Mouth and other bugs
Plus climate wars and a war on inflation
Wars we fight for democratic salvation
Confronting inequity
Restoring integrity
Wars have prevailed since God’s creation
From Frontier Wars to Black Lives Matter
Where historical injustice flares up on a platter
For land restitution
Or to fight persecution
Atrocities that make society shatter
Wars with growing sophistication
Designed for precision application
From sticks and stones
To robots and drones
Often with dubious justification
So no matter the issues that come to the fore
We’ll raise up like warriors, to settle the score
From fighting a pandemic
To subversion systemic
All blindly united … when incensed into war
